Your Ol' Time Religion Has Always Been A Curse To My Tribe

I marched right down to the 5 and dime
Bought me a loaf and some cheap red wine
To help me remember what I know to be true
Spent the night with a seed crowd
Listenin' to the holy rollers laugh out loud
As I took off my clothes and danced for the Lord in the nude

Such a night.  Such a night.
I'd be lying if I told you that i'd figured it out
And God knows how hard I've tried
But your ol' time religion has always been a curse to my tribe

I spent some time swimming in the mire
Had me some harlots and played with fire
Drank that moonshine til I was read in the face
Bruised the heal of the Divine
Accept responsibilities for my crimes
But I pray that there's mercy to spare when I see His face

Such a cime.  Such a crime.
I'd be lying if I told you that i'd figured it out
And God knows how hard I've tried
But your ol' time religion has always been a curse to my tribe

Such a time.  Such a life.
I'd be lying if I told you that i'd figured it out
And God knows how hard I've tried
But your ol' time religion has always been a curse to my tribe
