I Work So Hard (A song for the devil)

he was a friend of my father and my neighbor just loved him
So how could I pass 'im by?
When his wings were so leathery and i tended straight to them
And he showed me how he could fly

I'm just a man!  Don't blame me, m'am!
I'm 'bout as sorry as I could be
But I lie and I cheat and I crook and I steal
And I'm in love with the thievery

But when I woke in the morning there's a whole in my chest
I just laughed at myself, I'd never seen such a mess
What am I supposed to do when I work so hard?

You son of a bitch!

I've got so much that I never did give
I loved myself, yeah I loved me to death
What am I supposed to do?  I work so hard
I need a mend

Oh the staircase it grew then it split into two
And the ghosties just laughed a while
And the man at the door smelled of cheap wine and whores
But he greeted me with a smile

"Your just a man, please take my hand"
And he ushered me to my room
Then he turned up the heat and he chopped off my feet
And replaced them with stylish hooves!

Sing, all you children of God for the saints we have lost and those yet to believe
